May 8, 2010 - Kitchen Fire

Oshtemo firefighters were dispatched to a fire alarm at 5650 West Main Street Saturday morning at 7:38 AM.  Engine 521, Snorkel 541, and Telesquirt 532 initially responded.  Upon arrival nothing out of the ordinary was noticed, but when crews entered the building there was an obvious smoke condition.  The response was upgraded to a full alarm fire response, Engine 513, Engine 521 and Kalamazoo Township Engine 814 responded.  The fire was in the kitchen area and was extinguished with a fire extinguisher.  Damage to the kitchen was limited to a computer monitor used to process food orders.  Crews were able to remove the smoke from the building using electric fans and cleared within two hours of the initial alarm.
